Kathryn is an excellent Pierce County Nanny!

“I can offer more than nine years of experience working in education professionally and as a volunteer. My positions thus far have been in public school classrooms, in extended day programs, in camp situations, and as a nanny. I have extensive experience in working with people with learning, behavioral and emotional challenges. I have chosen to be a Pierce County Nanny because I love working with children and seeing them reach their full potential. Being a nanny, you are able to see children in a home setting, which is where they can really be themselves in their own environment. If I was asked to describe in one sentence the reason I have chosen to be in the nanny profession over any other it would have to be because I love providing a safe, structured, compassionate learning environment and feel like the home is a great place for a child to develop socially, academically and emotionally. I have been serving in some form of childcare experience for over nine years and can honestly say I love what I do! I feel children are each gifted with unique talents and abilities who long to be understood and nurtured at their own level. My goal as a nanny is to provide peace of mind for parents, to encourage a child’s self-esteem and personal identity and to provide a safe, fun environment for the child to flourish. I am able to do housekeeping that involves light chores including the child’s laundry, tidying up after child, meal preparation for child and anything involving the child’s day-to-day needs. If I had to describe myself in five adjectives I would say that I am enthusiastic, compassionate, dedicated, empathetic and driven. Activities that I would like to incorporate in the daily plan for the family I care for would include reading, homework time (when necessary), crafts, imaginative and creative play such as making up plays, dancing, singing and creating stories. I also encourage children to play outdoors with activities such as riding bikes, nature walks and other general outdoor activities. If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a nanny like me I would hope they would be loving, supportive, flexible and morally sound.”
I have had the honor of working with Katie for two school years in the Autistic Support program in the School District. Katie was employed as a paraprofessional in my classroom, in which she was key in implementing Verbal Behavior Therapy to seven children with Autism ages 8 to 12. Katie effectively taught children with challenging behaviors and significant language and communication deficits. She taught skills from the Language for Learning curriculum, including vocabulary, a variety of word and sentence forms, the development of precise word knowledge and prepositions. Katie is simply a natural at engaging children in learning. She could find ways to motivate the most unmotivated students to learn by incorporating their interests in lessons and activities. In addition to effective teaching skills, Katie has a pleasant attitude and excellent work ethic. She was always determined to finish any project she started, and if she made a mistake, she was quick to find solutions to fix the mistake. Katie managed two program data books that required attention to detail, in which she successfully managed. Furthermore, Katie has excellent communication skills. She always asked questions and was motivated to understand the strategies she was implementing. Katie relayed any information she was given from parents to me in a timely manner and offered suggestions. Additionally, Katie always took initiative. You will never find Katie just sitting! She is always up and asking what she can do next to help, which is an essential quality to have in a demanding classroom. With relentless motivation and a desire to help in any way she can, Katie will bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to your classroom. Katie was the best assistant I have ever had the pleasure of working with in my teaching career. It is with enthusiasm that I recommend Katie as a Pierce County Nanny!”
“I had the unique pleasure of working closely with Kathryn. As a classroom teacher who consistently works with children who require adult assistance, I was immediately impressed with her professional and caring demeanor. I have had experience with many Aides, Personal Care Assistants, and Therapeutic Staff, and few have had the talents and skill set she possesses. Kathryn came to our school to take on the professional duties as a Personal Care Assistant, where she worked closely with a second grader who was living with Autism. She maintained an effective relationship with the professional staff, and collaborated, communicated, and cooperated with everyone; both professional and service staff alike. Kathryn maintained a supportive and positive relationship with students and their parents. She quickly became a familiar face who my students and families of our school showed great respect to. Patience and love are components that are very much needed, necessary and welcome in a classroom, especially one that held so many challenges. Kathryn was not discouraged with her placement, rather took the assignment head on with grace and poise. She is a hard worker. When necessary, she worked beyond her required and allowed hours, which had an end result in excellent teaching and modeling for her young learner(s). She is patient, yet persistent. She is fair and firm, and demonstrates great confidence in using the Boys Town Model for encouraging and molding behaviors and developing social skills. In addition to her professionalism, Kathryn is just a fun person to be around. Her positive attitude and genuine love for helping others is infectious. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be an excellent and productive Pierce County Nanny to any family.”
“Kathryn was the personal care assistant in my fourth grade classroom for a student with autism for about nine months. Kathryn worked at our school for several years and was considered an asset by all teaching staff. When working with Kathryn, I learned early that she took her job very seriously and went above and beyond for the students she worked with while still holding them to high expectations. She took direction well, was a good listener, and asked good questions. Although Kathryn was very good at what she did with her student and had many skills that she displayed in my classroom, she was not afraid to admit when she was unsure and asked for help. Her pleasant disposition helped her connect well with students while still holding their attention and respect through high expectations and clear directions. There is no doubt in my mind that Kathryn will be an asset as a Pierce County Nanny. I know I speak for many when I say that Kathryn is missed at our school; she is reliable, productive, focused, open-minded and a team player.”
“Katie is a very caring, compassionate, loyal person who I've had the privilege of doing much of life with. She always follows through on what she commits to, and intentionally looks for ways to help others. I have a two-year-old son whom Katie is so loving and nurturing toward when we spend time together. She understands children well and makes them comfortable around her. I would highly recommend her as a Pierce County Nanny!”
“My husband and I have known Katie and her husband for about 18 months I have been able to see Katie interact with children and adults in many areas. I have found Katie to be an intelligent woman with very strong communication skills and a desire to listen and understand other perspectives and ideas. She is patient, thoughtful and kind and does everything she can to encourage and bring out the best in others. Her love and experience with children is evident as she interacts with them and encourages them to reach their fullest potential. I have no hesitation in recommending Katie for a Pierce County Nanny position with your family. She will prove to be a valued colleague and friend to those who are fortunate to spend time with her.”
“I have known Katie for six years and during this time she has shown herself to be a woman of incredible character. As a mom of six children, I have noticed and benefited from her love for children and teens. She demonstrated a high level of maturity while working as a small group leader in our youth group and was deeply missed by the girls when she had to leave. Katie is a compassionate, fun, creative and responsible woman. She is a very capable Pierce County Nanny, taking care of multiple children, as well as children with special needs. Katie would be a great asset to your family.”
