If I was asked to describe in one sentence the reason I have chosen to be in the Laurelhurst Domestic Care profession over any other, it would have to be because it’s one profession that really makes you feel good at the end of the day, if the children have a smile on their face at the end of the day, I have a smile on my face. I have been serving in some form of childcare experience for over 15 years and can honestly say I am awesome at what I do! I feel the children are the greatest gift there is. “Genevieve has become an integral part of my son's life and has been an asset to our family. Genevieve uses her extensive Laurelhurst Domestic Care experience to nurture and teach each child she is in contact with. Whether in a classroom setting, on the playground, or in our home, she has always engaged my son in meaningful playtime aimed at strengthening his intellect and skills. When Genevieve first started teaching my son he had just turned a year old. In the classroom setting, she emphasized socialization skills between the children as well as proper manners. Specifically, the children participate in Circle Time in which they learn to sit in a circle and listen to the teacher - no small feat for a group of one-year olds. Due to Genevieve’s patience and persistence with my son, he is now able to sit and listen properly. Additionally, Genevieve has a plethora of craft ideas for the children. While in her class my son would always come home with a new art project, these art exercises were not only fun for my son but strengthen his fine motor skills as well. Genevieve has also taken care of both my sons in our home. My second son was born this past August with a congenital heart defect which required surgery at two months old. Genevieve has helped to take care of both children during this time which has been especially helpful to our family.
