“I am easy going and can adapt to any surprises that often come along with caring for children. In contrast, I am able to closely follow any schedule that childcare sometimes requires. I have been active in all facets of local theater for over twenty years. In general, I like to keep active and my favorite sport to both watch and participate in is curling. I have been involved with my club for seven years and I volunteer much of my time throughout the season teaching classes, helping with events and leading our annual fundraiser benefiting a local charity. I decided to go to college in the fall of 2010 after gaining experience working as a teaching assistant for special education students. While attending college, I worked at a behavioral health organization as support staff for individuals with Autism, which required extensive training in Autism Spectrum Disorder. My goals for the last two years have been focused on my education. My motivation for returning to school is to one-day work with at-risk youth or special needs children. I come from a large family. I have been taking care of children for over half my life. I have been a regular nanny for the past three years while attending college and all of my clients have been happy with their decision to include me in their lives. I enjoy that my schedule can be flexible, and that each day brings something different. If I was asked to describe in one sentence the reason I have chosen to be in the nanny profession over any other it would have to be because I enjoy the opportunities I have to meet wonderful and interesting people I would not otherwise know. Arriving at a client’s house and having a little one’s eyes light up is an amazing feeling. I really enjoy teaching and helping children develop their skills. I feel the children are amazing. Which sounds cliché, but I am in constant awe of all of the things my nieces and nephews learn each day and how rapidly they are becoming independent people. Watching a child develop their own personality is really interesting to me and it is my hope that my best traits rub off of them. My goal as a nanny is to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment in which the children can thrive and develop; as well as maintain the absolute safety and health of the children and ensure a positive and encouraging environment. If I had to describe myself in five adjectives I would say that I am witty, outgoing, creative, detail oriented, and trustworthy. Activities that I would like to incorporate in the daily plan for the family I care for would include taking field trips to the library, a local park, or a Gymboree-type class. I would also like to take the children to the museum, a zoo or aquarium or even local children’s theater or sporting activities. If asked to describe the perfect family seeking Kitsap County Nannies like me I would hope they would be trusting, kind, and fun.”
“Katrina is a dedicated and caring teaching assistant who works under the philosophy of meeting the special needs and challenges of our students. She adds to a positive and caring environment that promotes academic and behavioral growth in her students. She assists with creative lessons to motivate and educate each student. Compared to other Kitsap County Nannies, Katrina works very hard to build a rapport with each student, and assist each student to meet his or her individual behavioral needs in the classroom, and in real life. She also works as part of a team with her colleagues to implement behavior modification plans for students. Katrina is dedicated to the team and always acts in the best interest of the team and her students. She is proactive and takes the initiative to create new programs and activities for our school. The educational team of our school’s learning focuses on creating a custom education plan to meet the needs and challenges of each student. Katrina takes the time to review each student's plan individually in order to better support each student. She has demonstrated dedication to our students and the ability to complete any task assigned to her.”
“Katrina has provided childcare for our family on numerous occasions. Our sons are almost six and three years old. Kate has watched them for us since the oldest was four and the youngest was one. Typically, Kate cares for our children on weekends when we have adult-only functions to attend. This usually involves making the children dinner, playing with them, getting them ready for bed, and staying with them until we return home. Kate insures that the children eat a good meal, are safe, and in bed at a reasonable hour. Our home is always clean and neat (dishes washed, toys picked up) when we arrive home. We have discussed having Kate stay with our children overnight or for a weekend. Although we have not yet done this, I would have no worries leaving the children with Kate for an extended period of time. Kate is an excellent childcare provider and would be a great candidate with your Kitsap County Nannies. She loves children and is very patient. She has also worked with people with disabilities and is very good at engaging children of all ages. Kate is always on time and very good about communicating throughout the night about how things are going and shares little stories about the children and their time with her when we return home. Our boys love "Miss Kate".”
“I can't say enough about Katrina's strengths as one of the Kitsap County Nannies. She was always reading stories, playing music or going for walks to provide intellectual and mental stimulation. During indoor play, she made sure that there was tummy time to provide a chance for physical development as well. She is nurturing and affectionate, but also organized and patient. Keeping an infant on a structured feeding and sleep schedule is no small task, but she managed beautifully. Even when things did not go according to plan, I had complete trust in her judgment and we always discussed any deviations at the end of the day. Beyond her abilities when it comes to childcare, Katrina is dependable and flexible. Often times, due to my husband's varying work schedule, we had to ask her to come early or stay late and it was never a problem. It was a pleasure to have Katrina in our home and caring for our daughter.”
“Katrina has been a valued babysitter to our family for the last three years. She has babysat for us on numerous occasions and for a short period we employed her two days a week for full days. Kate is always the most dependable of Kitsap County Nannies, arriving on time, staying the entire time, we needed and never needing time off. Kate was in charge of preparing and feeding our daughter lunch, getting her down for a nap, as well as entertaining her throughout the day. Kate is very thoughtful and creative with our daughter, always bringing new and different activities to engage her in play as well as using the resources around her to entertain her. We have even relied on Kate to give our daughter a nebulizer treatment when needed for her asthma issues. Kate is always willing to do what is needed and more if necessary.”
“Shortly after my first daughter was born, I had to return to work and the daunting task of finding childcare weighed heavily on my mind. Kate had previously proved her trustworthiness and impressive work ethic during several shows we had worked on together in Community Theater. My husband and I knew of Kate’s past experience with her own family members as well as at her previous employer and decided to see if she was interested in working for us. At just three months old, I left my daughter in Kate’s very capable hands. She cared for our daughter at our house, but was always looking for ways to enrich their days by going for walks or on other adventures. Over the course of more than a year, Kate proved to be like family and we knew we could always count on her. She was punctual, respectful and most importantly, wonderful with our daughter. When the time came for Kate to move on, we were saddened and knew that no Kitsap County Nannies would ever really be able to replace her.”
“Kate has been caring for my 9-month-old son since he turned 5 months old in January 2013. Kate has proven to be caring, honest, trustworthy, and reliable. As a new mom, I had a lot of anxiety in leaving my child in the care of Kitsap County Nannies; however, Kate immediately put those concerns to rest. Upon Kate’s first meeting with our son she very quickly developed a rapport with him – he started reaching out for her and flashing his big smile – they were fast friends. Kate’s experience caring for infants was immediately clear giving me the confidence to leave our son in her care. Kate is always prompt, and I can rely on her to keep her commitments with me. She has also made herself available when we had an unexpected need, which we appreciate. I came to require a caregiver because my mother broke her ankle and was unable to watch our son. For the first couple of months that Kate sat for us her responsibilities also involved caring for my mom while she convalesced. Kate did well with this double duty – putting my mom and our son at ease. My mom had the opportunity to observe Kate’s skills first hand and reported that I could not have found a better person to watch our son and that she clearly brought to the table strong skills with infants. We feel very fortunate to have had Kate as a caregiver for our son.”
