With a teaching mentality, Susan's skills working in a King County After School Program truly came through!

“I have an imagination that is endless and I am an early childhood development specialist. I have three grown-up children, shelves of children’s books, buckets of paint, baskets of instruments, and unending patience. It is time to share my expertise with one family and give them the best experience possible. If I was asked to describe in one sentence the reason I have chosen to be in the Nanny profession over any other it would have to be because I love children and families. I have been serving in some form of childcare experience for over fifteen years and can honestly say I love what I do! I feel the children are creative, beautiful, curious, imaginative, active, happy, cranky, sweet, sour, loving, and innocent. My goal as a Nanny is to be responsible for the safety and well-being of the child/children, model good manners, educate when appropriate, and put Mom and Dad’s minds at ease. I am willing to do housekeeping that includes kitchen dishes, sweeping, vacuuming, and cleaning up messes made by little hands. If I had to describe myself in five adjectives I would say that I am smart, creative, responsible, imaginative, and dependable. King County After School Program activities that I would like to incorporate in the daily plan for the family I care for would include reading, music classes, picnics, cooking, schedule planning, board-games, homework, museum-going, dancing, painting, biking, walking, and playing outside! If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a Nanny like me I would hope they would be a family that values education, diversity, and the arts; also, one that would treat me as a valuable resource.”
“Susan was great with our son; she was loving, caring and gentle. We have a very gentle approach to parenting and her values were very much in line with ours. Our son was an infant then and he loved her! Susan comes from a family of musicians and she would sing to him each day, she even had a theme for songs! It was around St. Patrick ’s Day so she sang him some Irish songs and always planned what she would sing, which I thought was so unique and we loved it. It was difficult as first-time parents, going back to work, and not sleeping, but Susan made it a smooth transition. She created a sleep schedule for our son and she helped maintain it to give us a better schedule in the evening as well. Our house was always neat and tidy, and she really balanced the responsibilities well. We had family nearby which also created a flexible schedule, but Susan was great and extremely dependable. I would recommend her King County After School Program to another family.”
“Susan and I worked together through Parent Effectiveness Training. She is most unique in her ability to sense what others, particularly children, are feeling and sense their needs. She is a great listener and communicator because she values the person in front of her and does her best to support and encourage that person. Susan has a keen sense of professionalism, keeping that focus at the same time she responds to personal needs. If I had young children, I would place them in her King County After School Program and put them under her direction without hesitation or worry. Actually, I would do that for anyone of any age, not just a child. Of course, she is well trained, but she also comes by it naturally. She is highly recommended as a childcare professional!”
“Susan is a creative, thoughtful, and caring teacher. She is amazingly intuitive with both children and their parents as to what they need in a King County After School Program and how best to reach them. Her kindness has touched so many Gymboree families and we are all so thankful for the time she spent with us.
“I have had the privilege of knowing Susan for the past seven years through her Play & Music classes. I first attended her King County After School Program with a child I was caring for and then with my own son for the past three years. Susan was an amazing teacher from day one and has had an amazing impact on my son's life, as well as my own. Susan is one of the most dedicated and loving educators that I have ever known. She had an incredible relationship with the children she taught. She gave those children unconditional love, continuous support and a true passion for learning. Her kindness, sense of humor, and encouragement made her a beloved teacher. Another quality that made Susan such an extraordinary teacher was her effort to educate parents and caregivers as well as the children. Susan took the time and made the effort to help us grow and better ourselves as caregivers to benefit our children's lives. This is a quality that I will forever be grateful for. The love and developmental support Susan gave my son over the years is priceless. The friendship and guidance she bestowed upon me too was a blessing. We are both better people because of her, and I am positive she will continue to touch the lives of many in her new position.”
“Susan offers an invaluable resource to any King County After School Program she is a part of. She is so knowledgeable about how to relate to both children and their parents at a level that makes all involved comfortable. This assists the learning process. Children in Susan’s classes are encouraged to work outside of their direct comfort zones to learn and develop. Susan is an amazing teacher and a great support to her co-workers. She is a fabulous resource to any organization that is lucky enough to have her!”
