“I come from a very large, tight-knit family and being around children of all ages for all of my life has been a big asset to working with children. I started working in childcare when I was 17 years old and now have over 10 years’ experience with children from infants to school-aged. I was the Lead Teacher in the Infant room for five years where there were up to 12 infants in my care as young as six weeks old. After that, I was a nanny in a private household for a three-month-old for three years and absolutely loved the experience. From my older teen years to my early twenties, I worked in a few childcare centers where the approach to teaching was varied along with the ages of the children and it helped teach me to adapt quickly in any setting. I speak English and Tagalog fluently and can understand and speak very limited Spanish. I taught my charge how to do her numbers 1-20 in English and 1-10 in Spanish and Tagalog by 18 months old. By 12 months, she knew a dozen signs, and that doubled by the time she was 18 months. I had her on a very consistent schedule and enjoyed singing, dancing, arts & crafts, and baby yoga in between. We also went to the library and local parks whenever the weather permitted. I try to limit screen time as much as possible, so we spent as much time outdoors as we could. The reason I have chosen to be in the Bellevue Household Manager profession over any other is because I absolutely love children and helping them grow and develop in their early years. It has been so fulfilling to work with children and it is truly my passion and my calling in life! I have been serving in some form of childcare for over 10 years and can honestly say that I adore what I do! I feel children are: able to learn absolutely anything, and are far more capable of understanding than most people think! I believe it is so important, especially in the early years, to teach them that even play time is an opportunity to learn! Their love of learning can start as early as possible. My goal as a Bellevue Household Manager is to collaborate with the parents of my charges to encourage the development and social skills of their children to the best of my ability. I am willing to do housekeeping that includes light cooking, laundry for my charges, and cleaning. If I had to describe myself in five adjectives I would say that I am responsible, caring, outgoing, organized, and reliable. Activities that I would like to incorporate in the daily plan for the family I care for would include singing/dancing, circle time, arts and crafts, outside time, playdates at the park and library, and dramatic play! If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a Nanny like me I would hope they would be caring, fun-loving, willing to work with me on what we think is best for their child(ren), and flexible. I look forward to the chance at meeting your family!”
“Melissa met and exceeded all expectations that my wife and I had for her as a Bellevue Household Manager. Our daughter is now in a classroom setting and is well advanced compared to her classmates. Melissa was and will always be a part of my daughter’s life. She made such a great impact on her at an early age and her accomplishments now in school are an attribute to Melissa working with her. If we were to have 5 children, I would ask Melissa to care for them all as she did with our daughter.”
“Miss Melissa was the Lead Teacher in my son’s infant classroom. As a first-time mother, I was nervous about leaving my little one with strangers, especially at only 6 weeks, but right away she made me feel confident that he was in good hands. Melissa was so warm, friendly, and reassuring each and every day. She was always so pleasant at drop off and pick up and the many times I would call throughout day. My son continued to amaze my husband and myself with the things he learned while in her care. He knew the finger-movements to the songs she would sing during her “circle time.” His love of books grew more and more every day. He started doing sign language at 10 months old! At the end of every week, he came home with art projects he did in the classroom that I still cherish to this day. Melissa was extremely detailed when it came to informing us about his progress and milestones. She even left special side notes on his daily sheets when he enjoyed a particular story or song for the day. Even after moving up to the next classroom, Melissa would still make a point to greet us. Her impact was shown when every one of the children would run up to hug her, including our son. Without a doubt, I highly recommend Melissa. As a dedicated and knowledgeable teacher, I know that she will only provide the best care possible as a Bellevue Household Manager.”
“I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Melissa five years ago when she was my daughter’s infant teacher. From the first day, I noticed her warm personality and the fact that my daughter was comfortable with her eased my nerves. This was my first child and my first time away from her. I remember being very emotional and Melissa let me stay in the infant room until I was ready to leave for work. She also answered my daily calls when I would "check-in" on my daughter for the first few weeks, never once giving the impression that I was bothering her. As time passed, I could see the bond my daughter was developing with Melissa and it was always a comfort seeing the smile on my daughters face as soon as she would see Melissa for morning drop off. I knew she was safe and in good hands and as a first time Mom, that was very important to me as I was leaving the most precious part of my life with her daily. I remember noticing how neat and meticulous Melissa was. She was always gentle with the children, and it amazed me to see how she handled four infants at a time by herself. She taught my daughter sign language, to crawl, and walk, always letting me know her milestones along the way. I got to know her on a personal level as well, and she is an amazing person who not only loves children of all ages, but adores them. I was fortunate enough to have my son in her class as well before she left. We kept in touch and Melissa babysits for our children when we need a sitter and most recently, she celebrated my daughter’s pre-school graduation with us. Every child that has been under Melissa's care has benefited from her love and teaching as she is more than an amazing care giver, she is a wonderful teacher as well. She also is very attentive, has integrity and shows good judgment in assessing situations and resolving issues, especially if a child is showing signs of being ill. I highly recommend Melissa for any Bellevue Household Manager position where she can contribute to a child's growth and development as she has for mine.”
