“I am the oldest child of five children. I come from a very close-knit family. We were raised with ethics. My siblings and I have raised our children the same way. If I was asked to describe in one sentence the reason I have chosen to be a Bellevue Governess over any other profession it would have to be because I have been working with children since I was 18 years old (40 years) I love to watch the wonder and joy in their eyes and smiles as they learn new things and discover the world around them. I have been serving in some form of childcare experience for over 40 years and can honestly say I love what I do! I feel the children are not people to be molded but joyful people to be unfolded with care and respect. My goal as a Nanny is to provide a safe, supportive, loving and a fun environment just as their parents would do for them. I am willing to do housekeeping that includes laundry, dishes, vacuuming and I am a great cook! If I had to describe myself in five adjectives I would say that I am loving, wise, funny, patient and creative. Activities that I would like to incorporate in the daily plan for the family I care for would include creativity like art projects, baking, cooking, science projects, reading and being outdoors playing, and swimming. If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a Nanny like me I would hope they would be the kind of family that is loving and supportive to each other. They must be a family that enjoys each other’s company.”
“I have known Diane for more than 25 years and would like to acknowledge her outstanding character and the fine qualities that she possesses as a Bellevue Governess. I met Diane in 1978, when she was employed as a pre-school teacher where my daughter attended as on 'almost' three-year-old. A few years later, Diane went on to purchase the school. Under Diane's leadership for over 20 years, the school possessed a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for the children who helped develop their individuality and encourage their creativity. The brightly colored halls and classrooms, mixed with a busy activities and children's laughter on a daily affair. Over the years, the school touched a host of young lives and became an important member of the community. Diane ran the school with a kind and caring spirit, earning the respect of parents and staff. My daughter went on to become a pre-school teacher herself, which clearly demonstrates the lasting impression that was made upon her own life. After her graduation, from college she went on to work for her former pre-school teacher trying to emulate and give bock to the children what was given to her from her first teacher, Miss Diane.
“I first met Diane as a Bellevue Governess when our daughters began Kindergarten. So many of my daughter’s friends had attended the school or the summer camp program and the parents raved about how wonderful the program was. My husband and I were not thrilled with the preschool experience our older daughter had and now we had the perfect place for our youngest, Alyssa. Our Kindergarten girls needed a Girl Scout Daisy troop leader. A group of us asked Diane to do it and with all her other responsibilities, she said yes. Diane was an amazing troop leader and continued with our girls for the next 6 years. From Daisies to Brownies and to Junior Scouts. She planned meetings, trips, worked on badges and community and charity projects. She also coordinated the cookie sales which was quite a task. Each year ended with a Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance (so adorable) I can't tell you what those dances meant to my husband, he and Alexandra have the best memories. The last year of scouts Diane planned a trip for us moms and our daughters. We all had a great time and lots of memories were made. When Alyssa turned 3 years old, we enrolled her with Diane. She was there for 2 years, and had an amazing experience. The teachers were great, and Alyssa learned so much. The program was terrific, and they did shows at Christmas and the end of the year little graduations when my daughters attended high school and the other parents were complaining about the extra activities programs like the Dance Team, Choir, and Drama being poorly run, once Diane stepped up. She became chairperson of the Parents Arts Committee raised money and helped to improve the programs for our girls. We have remained friends all these years and proudly sat together as we watched our daughters graduate and go on to college.”
“I am happy to have known Diane for the past five years. Diane has been a volunteer teacher for me that entire time as well as being the Junior High School coordinator. One of the things that most impresses me about Diane is that she is a caring and giving person and will put the needs of other before herself. She has often helped me out in a pinch when I am short-staffed, and she jump right in to take a class even though she had just completed working with another class. The children respond to her. She is tough when the need arises, but they respect her, and she touches the children in such a way that they want to learn and they ‘get it.’ Teaching the older grades is not always easy and presents many challenges when you are trying to teach religion. The children are at the age where they are not very receptive to any adult trying to teach them because they know it all. Diane was very successful with these children last year and I heard good things from the children as well as their parents. I was lucky to have her in this program. I find Diane to be very conscientious. If she has a problem child, she does her best to help the child out. If that fails, she’ll come to me and we discuss possible plans of action to help the child along. She is committed to the children and to their success. The children pick up on this and respond to that care and concern for their well-being. Diane is a real asset to my programs. She is ready and willing to step forward and lend a hand where one is needed. She is committed and conscientious and dependable Bellevue Governess and we look to her often to help out, not just in the religious education programs but overall in other parish activities. It is interesting to note that the apple does not fall far from the tree and Diane’s daughter, Gabriella, was involved as a volunteer as well here in the parish. She had a great example to follow, Mom. I look forward to working with Diane this year and so appreciate her selfless giving of her time and energy to work faithfully with me and the other children of this parish. I always would be willing to put her in front of a class. The only time I would say no is when I think she is doing too much volunteering and I would like others to step up. That’s not a bad thing at all, is it?”
“Miss Diane worked at the Nursery School for one school year and made a tremendous difference during her time with us. Diane helped revise and improve our curriculum, helped reorganized classrooms to make them more center based and worked closely with the department of licensing to make sure we were always in compliance. Diane always completed assignments ahead of deadlines and was very attentive to details. She was punctual, had excellent attendance and was extremely professional. Diane genuinely cares about others and it shows on a daily basis in her duties as a Bellevue Governess.”
“I am writing in support of Diane, who has applied for a position as Bellevue Governess. Diane attended University from 1974 to 1978 and I was one of her instructors in the early childhood program, which gave her certification both in pre-school and kindergarten through grade 8. During her time there, Diane was an outstanding student teacher and showed many leadership skills as an early childhood major. She was president of the early childhood organization of students, and as the advisor, I worked with her on many projects. She consistently demonstrated good decision-making abilities, originality of ideas, and a natural instinct to lead others. Her peers looked up to her and heeded her advice. To me, she clearly was someone I knew would be successful in the area of early childhood education during the near future. During the 1980's, I made annual visits to her day care center. The annual event was a pot luck supper, with large numbers of parents who participated, and I concluded the evening with a talk and question-answer session on a child development topic. The parents loved her, who was tireless in organizing and coordinating the event. As a director, she did it all-administering, counseling, advising and teaching. And, she did it well. I truly believe that the school that hires her, as either a classroom teacher of director, will be fortunate indeed. I recommend her highly.”
