She preferred to work from home because my younger siblings were either too young to go to school or only went to school for half of the day. She took care of children in a wide age-range, some as young as one years old and others up to age ten. Some, she would take care of the whole day, and others were at the house just for after-school care. I remember she usually provided care for two to four children at a time, and then my three siblings and me on top of that. Sometimes, she provided care for children on Saturdays when parents needed it. My mother always prepared meals for both my siblings and the children in her care. The children were generally well-behaved, and they seemed to have always been fond of my mother.
