"I have been providing some form of childcare for over six years and I can honestly say that I am so lucky to be in this field of work. If I was asked to explain why I have chosen to be a Bronx Mother's Helper I would say that it is because I absolutely adore children and spending my day with them is the perfect job for me. I have always been great with children and I think that there is nothing more valuable than the lessons you learn from them and what you can teach them on a daily basis. I feel that children are little sponges who want to learn and grow but need help and guidance in the process of doing so. My goal as a nanny is to help a family in need of a high quality childcare provider, and to give children another positive role model. I feel that children need to stay active and often busy so I would incorporate activities such as playing at the park along with bike rides, as well as painting and playing with clay into the children’s weekly schedule. My main goal and hope in planning activities is to provide a wide variety so that children learn to be well rounded in all skills and creativity. I am an energetic person and the type of nanny who rolls on the floor making silly faces at babies or starts "tickle wars" with older children, I am very confident and comfortable with my childcare abilities. If I was asked to describe the perfect family to work for I would say people who are honest and respect me as a person rather than just an employee; I like to stay active so definitely a family who encourages their children to play outside! I prefer to shape behaviors using positive reinforcement. I am open to do housekeeping at the family's request, such as the children's laundry and dishes, and of course tidying up each evening. "With my wife having a serious accident about a year ago, Janece willingly offered any support that we needed during a very difficult time for our family. Her nurturing care for our children allowed them to quickly and easily get comfortable with her. "While Janece was living in Utah she would frequently provide childcare for my son for me while I would work. I don’t have set hours and my schedule is really sporadic, but she was always willing to care for him. She has also helped me while she has visited Utah a few times and has also cared for my newborn during those visits. As I mentioned, Janece didn’t have set hours or responsibilities (other than watching my children), but without fail I would always come home to happy and healthy children, a clean kitchen, laundry done, etc. She always went above and beyond! "The children loved Janece and looked forward to the time they spent with her. She was very dependable and was able to calm the children who were upset that their mothers were leaving for a couple of house to attend other meetings. Janece was able to distract distraught children as well as relate well to all of the children. She was efficient when it came time to feed the children snacks, and she joined in singing with the children during music time. Janece was a joy to work with both from an adult and a child perspective. I worked with Janece in a church nursery situation. We helped care for 15 to 20 children each week. These children were between the ages of 18 months and 3 years old. Janece was very genuine in her caring and concern for the children and they returned this affection. She was skilled at diverting the attention of children who were upset at the absence of a parent and she never tired of coloring and doing activities with the children on a group basis or a one-on-one basis. She had a lot of patience and kept coming back week after week even though the position was entirely voluntary. I would highly recommend her."

"Janece cared for our daughter while we went to work. She was responsible for feeding her, getting her go to sleep, and playing with her. She was great at entertaining her and would even take her for walks. She was very flexible; we needed her on a temporary basis to care for our daughter until our permanent nanny could start.
