“I have had the opportunity on many occasions to work with Noemea in caring for children including all-day and overnight situations. One New Years, the two of us were hired to care for 6 children, ages 1 year old to 9 years-old overnight in a New York City hotel room while their parents spent the night on the town. She was fun and creative in planning activities for the children, and made sure it was a safe and enjoyable time for all! “As well as having a close friendship with Noemea over the last six years, I have also seen her interact with children on numerous occasions. For several summers, she and I worked together at a Camp, where Noemea was a full time counselor. As the program assistant, I was able to observe her in this position closely. Working as a camp counselor takes great amounts of patience, care, flexibility, and commitment. The hours are long (22 hours a day for 6 straight days) and giving up her summer (8 weeks) to work with campers of various ages shows her love for children. There would have between 4 and 7 children at any time in her cabin with her. These campers would be her responsibility for the week. Their parents would leave them in her care, knowing that they would be in good hands. Throughout the camp day, Noemea would be "in charge" of large groups of children in many capacities. She has taught, crafted, led games, played games, and acted as a peacemaker more times than one can count. She knows how to be flexible and go with the flow, as well as take the lead. She can break up an argument and console a weeping camper in ways that highlight her loving personality. In the capacity of friend, she is reliable and loyal. She is always willing to offer words of encouragement, jokes, or just listen when a friend needs her. She is consistently positive, no matter what life throws her direction.
