“Jennifer always went above and beyond what I had asked for as a Mercer County Nanny. Not only were my young children fed, bathed, and happy; the house was always left clean and neat. Even at a young age, Jen had a wonderful way with my boys that always had them asking us to leave and have Jennifer care for them! Our family has known Jen and her family for 19 years. We have watched her grow from her young teens into a wonderfully committed teacher and woman. Jen was my first steady childcare provider for my sons, and I was so impressed even at a young age of her judgment and enthusiasm. My three sons all have such fond memories of her staying with them, playing and having fun. Not only was she fun, she so enjoyed teaching them how things were done, but guiding them to be kind to each other also. Even today, they love to see and run into her! My oldest sons are in college, and still speak so lovingly of her. My youngest, Ben also so admires Jennifer. Any family would be lucky to have her--she has all the best qualities in a person, with the additional experience of a patient, dedicated teacher. I can highly recommend her outstanding qualities and judgment around children. I only wish I could have her for my nanny!”
“I have never trusted anyone with my children as much as I have trusted Jen. Her extensive training as an educator and her loving character make her the type of person you wish could look after your children anytime you cannot be there yourself. I have been a friend of Jennifer’s since high school and even then, she has always had a love for children. She always knew that she wanted to work with children and to guide them. When we reconnected after college and I got married and had children of my own, there was nobody I wanted to turn to more than her when I heard that she was still working with children. She was the Mercer County Nanny for my husband and I for our two children when we needed to travel for work or needed a night out. The children absolutely love to be with Jen! She is so conscientious and kind. She is very loving with my children! She is always on time and has "ideas" in mind for what she is going to do with the children. She seems to have a boundless energy about her! I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Jen. I recommend her whole-heartedly to the lucky family that gets the pleasure of working with her. It will be very hard to find someone as smart and wonderful as Jennifer!”
“Jennifer is one of the most reliable, hands on Mercer County Nanny I have ever met! She was in total control of taking care of my son in a loving, cheerful, and reliable manner. I never worried for one minute that he was not in the best of hands. Only having one child I was very involved in the devotion and interaction of his caretaker. Jennifer has raised the bar in finding someone as wonderful as herself. Years later, we are still in contact with her and she still calls and visits Josh occasionally. May I add, she comes from a wonderful family who make it a point that family comes first! Jennifer has instilled this family importance in personal and professional manners. She is a great candidate for a Nanny position!”
“I have had the good fortune of knowing Jen since I was 5 years old. I have witnessed her personal and professional lives. I cannot think of another human being I know who matches her integrity, industriousness and good heartedness. I have no doubt Jen would be a highly successful Mercer County Nanny due to her positive demeanor, educational expertise, and ability to provide structure for children of all ages. Any family who hires her would be very lucky to find someone as caring and capable as Jen to take care of their children.”
“I have known Jennifer as a student since she enrolled in the preservice class on reading and writing methods for elementary teachers that I teach at Teachers College. She is great with children of all ages and will make an excellent Mercer County Nanny! Within the first class meeting, I became aware of Jenny's strong interest in literacy and literacy learning theories and practices, as well as her keen attention and total involvement as a student and as a teacher intern. Jenny's written work for both the first and the second semesters of the course were outstanding. In addition to excellent weekly synthesis papers drawn from reading assignments, her teaching experiences, and the class activities, Jenny also completed a major assessment project. Her collection of evidence in the assessment project was thoroughly analyzed and reflected her familiarity with informal assessment procedures, such as running records, anecdotal records, conference note taking, and interview forms. Her overall project was exceptionally well organized and contained a thorough and exacting analysis. In addition, she wrote her interpretations with specificity and clarity. This semester she has written an individual curriculum plan for upper elementary students on a nonfiction topic: newspapers. Although it has not yet been graded, I expect that Jenny's project will be theoretically sound and practical in design, as well as clearly written and organized because of the overall quality of her work this year. Besides the curriculum and assessment projects, Jenny was assigned two research-based newsletters on a topic or issue in language/reading/writing development or instruction. Her first newsletter was on invented spelling. Her newsletter was thoroughly researched and written in an engaging style, one filled with voice and specifics about the issue. Further, it was informing, not only about the history and controversies surrounding invented spelling, but also about the implications for classroom practice. Her second newsletter was on nonfiction studies in the primary grades. In addition to essential information, she provided an argument for importance of teaching nonfiction to younger students. Once again, her research was thorough and her writing style was engaging. Jenny's pleasure in, and contributions to, class activities, as well as her initiative in relation to them, was astounding. In small groups she always functioned as a leader, either by taking charge or by consciously working to give that role to a peer. She was sensitive to her peers in all situations, but also was a most active and thoughtful contributor to class discussions. Due to her work with published curriculum materials from the National Geographic Society, Jenny volunteered to do presentations about these materials for the class. Her information and her bearing both showed what a fine speaker she is with groups of adults. Her intelligence, knowledge, confidence, and desire to learn and grow as a teacher, all combine to make her one of the most outstanding students I have met in my classes in the Curriculum and Teaching Department at Teachers College!”
“Over the past twelve years I have worked with dozens of prospective and novice teachers either as a cooperating teacher, university supervisor, or university professor. It is with this experience that I can unequivocally say that Jennifer is among the most thoughtful and brilliant novices with whom I have worked. While I have only known Jenny for one year, as the professor of her year-long core foundations course in elementary education, I have no questions about her unwavering commitment to teaching and providing all children with an education that is both excellent and equitable. The pre-service elementary education program at Teachers College, Columbia University, is designed to rigorously prepare future educators with a critical, socially conscious perspective. It is clear to me that Jenny is a thoughtful woman that will become an exceptional teacher. She received a final grade of A for both semesters, which is a significant accomplishment in a program of this caliber. Jenny is a highly capable woman exhibiting the sophisticated intellectual ability and ideology necessary to facilitate an inclusive classroom of the highest standards. In addition to being her core curriculum and theory professor for a full year, I had the pleasure of observing Jenny one day while she was teaching. Jenny invited me to come to her student teaching placement to provide additional feedback and I thoroughly enjoyed the morning I spent watching her teach, interact with her students, and discussing at length her actions after the students went to music class. Viewing her teacher role as facilitating children's lifelong learning development, Jenny designs lessons that are both incredibly engaging within the classroom walls, but more significantly, personally relevant and authentic to her students' lives. I found her lesson to be thoroughly innovative and absolutely accessible to each and every student in her fourth grade classroom. When teaching and talking about her students, Jenny exudes a genuine enthusiasm and overwhelming love for her children, which will show as a Mercer County Nanny. This came through in all of her written assignments as well. One of the most challenging aspects of our program involves imploring our students to identify, examine, and reconsider the values, biases, and assumptions they hold regarding diversity, equity, and student learning. Our students find this aspect of our program to be one of the most intellectually and emotionally taxing. Jenny, however, has embraced this facet of the program. Furthermore, all of Jenny's papers were incredibly well composed, insightful, and consistently among the highest grades in the class. Her command of the written language is strong and will serve her well as an elementary school teacher. Moreover, Jenny has shown from these written tasks that she understands that her own learning as a teacher is a process that will require sustained reflection and commitment as she progresses through her career. Finally, I would like to comment on Jenny's participation in class and my personal interactions with her. In class Jenny engages in large group discussions, adding stimulating comments and asking pertinent questions of her classmates and me. During small group discussion time I am able to assess her abilities to work with other peers and have found that she is a leader in conversations and displays the ability to collaborate with others. There is no question that she is highly regarded by her peers. Her positive outlook on life and energetic disposition reflect the value she has for individuals and their differing perspectives, thus others are drawn to her. One on one, I have enjoyed my interactions with Jenny. She comes to my office hours virtually every week giving me substantial opportunities to get to know her on a personal and professional level. She has sought out my professional advice regarding teaching several times, found ways to incorporate my ideas into her practice, thus making them her own, and then returned to discuss her experiences with me to further her growth. I find this to be one of Jenny's most impressive qualities. It speaks to her openness to seek out and incorporate alternative ideas that inform her own development as an educator. She is energetic and passionate about education and teaching. She is always willing to try new techniques and actively seeks to expand her professional knowledge. We spent many hours discussing critical educational topics and I found her perspective to be refreshing and insightful. I look forward to the coming years when our relationship continues to grow into one of close collegial collaboration. Jenny is a student advocate and stands for everything that is just and good in the world. Jenny is an amazing young teacher that will contribute powerfully to our students' lives for many years to come!”
