Melissa’s enjoyment in helping children learn and grow would make her a perfect York County Mothers Helper!
“I have a love and passion for working with children! I would love to be a nanny because of my desire to work and teach children of all ages. I have been serving in some form of childcare experience for over 10 years and can honestly say I LOVE what I do! I feel the children are a delight to be around. I love spending time with children and watching them develop, learn, and grow on their own levels. It is a pleasure to help them discover the world around them! My goal as a York County Mothers Helper is to positively affect the lives of the children I am working with while providing them with life goals and lessons. I am willing to do housekeeping that includes laundry, dishes, and light cleaning. If I had to describe myself in five adjectives I would say that I am kind, firm, trustworthy, consistent, and helpful. Activities that I would like to incorporate in the daily plan for the family I care for would include learning through play, educational games and activities (age-appropriate), and outside exercise (weather permitting). If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a Nanny like me I would hope they would be easy-going!”
“Melissa was eager to jump right in the first week of her student teaching experience! She was friendly and genuinely interested in the students' interests and abilities. Melissa was extremely driven. Her confidence shined through, with both observations receiving high marks from her professors. Melissa's lessons were extremely thorough. All the components are well thought out and have all the elements of a successful lesson. I really enjoyed having her in my room! She was more than willing to complete any task I have asked of her. Her friendly demeanor and can-do attitude were much appreciated! I highly recommend Melissa for a York County Mothers Helper as I'm sure she would be an asset to any Shrewsbury Nanny Agency!”
“Melissa completed her student teaching in my first grade classroom. During this time, Melissa had the opportunity to observe and learn all of the duties and responsibilities before being actively involved. She was quick to learn the schedule and routines. She steadily took on more and more of the teaching until she carried out the full load responsibility. With guidance and feedback, she was responsible for the planning and implementing of all lessons. My students were in capable hands. As a student teacher, Melissa quickly learned all of the students’ names and established a wonderful rapport with them. She became aware of their abilities and limitations. She used this knowledge to monitor and adjust her lessons to better insure student success. The students quickly accepted her as the teacher. Teaching in a classroom with many needs, Melissa was given the opportunity to work with the daily changing student population in the class. She was also responsible for the physical accommodations needed for a handicapped child. Melissa was always punctual. She was dedicated to the work, as she spent many hours after school both at school and at home. She completely understands the importance of confidentiality and interacted with parents appropriately. She was task oriented, insuring a productive school day. She was very reliable and would make a perfect York County Mothers Helper. When called upon at a moment’s notice to work with students, Melissa quickly responded. She recognized when tasks needed to be done and acted accordingly. Mrs. Funari’s friends yet professional relationships provided everyone with a safe and comfortable environment conducive to learning!”
“Melissa is a high achiever! She is one of those extraordinary students any professor would dream to have in his/her classrooms and in the program. I am one of the fortunate ones. She was a pleasure to teach! She was well liked and respected by her fellow students, college professors, cooperating teachers in the schools, and school children. She has a passion for working with young people in both classrooms and other activities, which is why she would be an asset to any Shrewsbury Nanny Agency. Reports from her cooperating teachers in her practicum and student teaching experiences indicate that she has the ability to prepare, deliver, and evaluate students under her care. Melissa is a kind but firm educator who treats children with respect. That is why they respect her in return! She welcomes constructive criticisms and is not afraid to change. She has a passion for learning. Whether they be everyday information or specific issues, content and methods, she will pursue after them. She truly will be a great educator, and many children will benefit from her preparation! It is my hope that you will offer her the opportunity to grow from this point on. She will be able to contribute educationally, socially and physically to your children. I recommend her highly for a York County Mothers Helper position!”
“I worked very closely with Melissa at our church’s youth group. She has a love for children that is amazing and that’s what would make her an excellent York County Mothers Helper! You could see it in her interaction with the teens at our youth group and you can see it in her parenting skills with her own children. I am a mother of three grown children but if I were ever in need of a child care provider, Melissa would be my first choice!”
“I met Melissa through our local church. It was years ago. I watched her grow up through the teen years and into an adult. I supervised her off and on as a church volunteer who worked with children. Later, we worked at the same counseling agency with children. She always smiles and is cheerful and compassionate! She is very intelligent -- what some would call "sharp as a tack." She is energetic and athletic -- organized and yet able to be spontaneous. A perfect fit for a York County Mothers Helper!”
“I knew Melissa first as her camp counselor. Her sweet and considerate demeanor won her my vote, year after year, for counselor of the week. Her love for camp and for children led her to be a camp counselor as soon as she was old enough. In her quiet way she always ensured that the needs of her campers were met. On registration day children would run to her and greet her with a big hug since she had built wonderful connections with them in the years prior. This alone proves she was a wonderful counselor and would make a fabulous York County Mothers Helper! In addition to my experience with Melissa at camp, I also worked with her in children’s ministry at our church. Initially Melissa was a student and I was a leader, but Melissa’s heart to serve led her to volunteer as soon as she was old enough. Just like when she was a camp counselor she shined when interacting with children and worked as a team player! Years later, Melissa still shines when interacting with children, especially her own two boys. Melissa is an incredible multi-tasker. Until her graduation last May, Melissa worked, went to school, and was still an amazing mother to her two boys. I have tremendous respect for her as a person and a mom!”
