ABC’s Nanny Agency in Perry County welcomes Dona’s level of energy and focus on family!
“I’m an energetic, organized and fun person. I love children and enjoy working with them. I have four sisters and three of them have their own children who I love to be around! If I was asked to describe in one sentence the reason I have chosen to be in the Nanny profession over any other it would have to be because being a Nanny with ABC’s Nanny Agency in Perry County takes a lot of energy and a big heart, which I have! It is important to show guidance to the children. It makes my life meaningful when providing childcare. I have been serving in some form of childcare experience for over five years and can honestly say I love what I do! I feel the children are precious gems who are adorable and pure. There is so much to learn from them. My goal as a Nanny is to be a positive role model to the children as a nanny. I am willing to do housekeeping at the family’s request that includes cleaning the dishes, doing laundry, picking up children toys and anything else that is needed. If I had to describe myself in five adjectives I would say that I am happy, healthy, energetic, friendly, and enthusiastic. Activities that I would like to incorporate in the daily plan for the family I care for would include playtime and whatever chores are needed. If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a Nanny like me I would hope they would be happy and energized!”
“Jamie, our youngest, is a loveable, super sensitive, and strong willed little boy. In September 1999, Jamie began a “two’s” program at our local temple. Unfortunately, after a few heart wrenching, tearful weeks, Jamie would not separate, and we were advised to try again in January. The next few months were tedious; trying to keep Jamie stimulated and out of trouble! During this time a very close friend, who has five children of her own, encouraged me to try the nursery program at a local nursery school. My friends own children had trouble separating and she raved about their teacher, Dona. Feeling hopeful, Jamie and I came to the school, hopeful, to meet Dona. I mostly wanted Jamie to experience and enjoy the entire social and educational benefits that the ‘terrific two’s’ was offering us. The warmth and reassurance we received that day was incredible, and I Just knew Jamie would be fine! After the winter break I brought Jamie into school and without missing a beat, Dona ran over to Jamie with excitement and gave him a big hug. Immediately, Jamie grabbed on to me and said ‘go home’! Slowly and gently, Dona eased Jamie out of my arms and coaxed him over to the trucks he had taken an interest in when we last visited. I was asked to say good-bye and as I turned to leave, Jamie tried to run to me but with a warm but strong hold. Dona reassured Jamie that I would be back soon and he was going to be fine. Leaving that room was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, but after an hour and a half, I came back to find a tentatively happy Jamie, who was thrilled to see me and anxious to make his good-byes! Easing Jamie into his new program was slow but steady, but I was constantly updated and reassured that he was acclimating. After approximately two weeks Jamie took hold of Marcia’s hand, gave me a hug and kiss and walked inside to find ‘Morah Dona; Morah is teacher in Hebrew. I never thought the day would come when I would see Jamie’s back, quietly, and happily walking away. Over the next few months, Jamie flourished; he is so proud of his projects, his knowledge of our cultural holidays and his continuous learning of letters, numbers, colors and songs! Incredibly, we can always elicit a full cheek smile whenever we mention his friend’s names, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Morah Dona! With Dona’s direction, encouragement and supports, we had Jamie evaluated for some speech and occupational therapy in my township. Not surprisingly, Dona volunteered to come with us to all the meetings, offered her time on the phone and in person with the evaluation team, just to help make everything go smoothly. Dona’s character is evident on a daily basis as she teaches our children through songs, dance, free play, arts & crafts, loads of projects, comfort, discipline, and warmth. Her hands on get your hands dirty, huddle and cuddle approach is a winner with the children and parents. I cannot express enough the huge impact Dona has made on Jamie, our family, and hundreds of other children. Dona encourages others to give and do more because she shows so much selfless dedication herself. She can always be found with a smile on her face! As a parent, I know what a difference a teacher can make in a child’s life. We feel so lucky and blessed to have found those special qualities in Dona. In the months and even years ahead, I know Dona will be a source of friendship and invaluable insight for my children as well as others seeking a nanny through this Nanny Agency in Perry County.
