“Powder Horn Nanny: The Day Camp offers a highly organized program aimed at teaching social skills and providing recreational opportunities to children and adolescents who struggle with inappropriate behaviors, communication difficulties, and motor and sequencing challenges. The majority of our campers have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism. We were incredibly fortunate to have Shelley join us as a teacher assistant at our camp! Shelley worked closely with the classroom teacher, assisting in the planning and execution of daily lessons. The children in the class thoroughly enjoyed her imaginative approach, strong sense of purpose, and the patience she exhibited every day. Our campers can sometimes become easily frustrated or struggle with interacting with others, but Shelley has a remarkable ability to handle any situation firmly, all while displaying warmth and care. She provided the stability that our campers thrive on, and her rapport with both the students and fellow staff members was truly invaluable. Shelley's commitment to her work, strong sense of responsibility, and excellent communication skills are qualities that will carry her far in life. Our program undeniably benefited from her involvement!”
”Whenever Shelley was asked to do something, she very willingly completed the job to satisfaction. I admired the way she was always willing to do what was asked of her and take on new responsibilities! I always felt comfortable leaving Shelley with my granddaughter knowing that she could handle all situations that arose. She has a great personality, was always very interactive, and came up with creative ideas. I highly recommend her for this type of a position!”
”Yes, Shelley fulfilled all job requirements in an outstanding manner. Shelley is the sweetest and most caring young lady that I have ever known! Shelley is extremely patient when it comes to children. She enjoys interacting with children and not just ‘watching’ them. Shelley will read to the children, play games, and do arts and crafts in an enthusiastic manner to keep the children’s interest in whatever they are doing. Shelley goes to the extreme to keep the children occupied and happy!”
