The perfect Botetourt County After School Program is here with ABC Nannies like Amy who go above and beyond in taking care of children.
“I have always been an extremely happy, hard-working, and high-energy individual who has a deep passion for working with children. Growing up in a large and close-knit family of six, I learned firsthand the importance of treating children as respected and cherished members of the family. Over the past ten years, I have dedicated my career to childcare and have had the incredible opportunity to work with the Botetourt County After School Program, which I absolutely love!
My journey in childcare began as an aide in a preschool classroom. After completing college, I spent several months as a Nanny to a five and three-year-old, and then transitioned to becoming an aide in a second-grade classroom for children with special needs. Through these experiences, I have discovered my genuine desire to be a Nanny. I firmly believe that providing a supportive and creatively active environment in the home is one of the best things you can do for a child, and it brings so much joy to both parties involved.
With over ten years of childcare experience, I can confidently say that I love what I do. I truly believe that children are the most important part of a family. Their creativity, fun-loving nature, and curiosity are what make being a Nanny one of the most fulfilling jobs out there. As a Nanny, my goal is to create a stable and supportive environment that encourages children to grow and learn to the best of their abilities.
In addition to providing excellent childcare, I am also willing to assist with housekeeping duties, such as laundry, dusting, vacuuming, and light cleaning upon request. If I had to describe myself in five adjectives, I would say that I am friendly, fun, warm, creative, and supportive.
When it comes to daily activities, I would love to incorporate outdoor experiences such as sports and visits to the playground. Baking, arts and crafts, and music lessons (if desired) are also activities that I can bring into the daily plan for the family I care for. As a classically trained vocalist, pianist, and flautist, I can offer music lessons as well. Additionally, I have fluency in both French and Italian, so planning a day dedicated to learning about different cultures and cuisines would be an exciting possibility!
If asked to describe the perfect family seeking a Nanny like me, I would hope they are a close-knit and warm family who values the importance of a support system and knows how to have a lot of fun.”
“Botetourt County After School Program: She went ABOVE AND BEYOND her job requirements! Amy truly exceeded expectations during her time in my classroom. As a teacher for a class of 5 children with autism, individualized attention is crucial. Each student requires a 1:1 teaching assistant who can effectively and safely manage their school day. This role demands flexibility, creativity, and quick thinking. Amy embraced these responsibilities wholeheartedly.
Amy's contributions in my classroom were extensive. She seamlessly implemented behavior modification plans, adapted assignments to accommodate each student's abilities, and utilized various reinforcement techniques including social praise, songs, stories, and video games. Furthermore, while addressing challenging behaviors like kicking, hitting, and property destruction, Amy maintained a firm yet kind and composed approach. What's truly remarkable is that Amy had limited prior experience with special needs children, but she rose to the occasion and handled the role exceptionally well. She was always eager to learn and adapt in order to support the children's learning and enjoyment at school.
In my experience, Amy has been an incredibly positive addition to the Botetourt County After School Program. Her commitment to the children's education and well-being is evident. It's worth noting that other substitutes often avoided our classroom due to the complexities involved, but Amy fearlessly embraced the challenge."too difficult"Amy, on the other hand, arrived at the Botetourt County After School Program with an infectious smile and an eager disposition.
